Pennsylvania’s Pigeon Shoot Wars

The Philadelphia Gun Club in Bensalem Township, Pennsylvania continues to hold cruel and cowardly live pigeon shoots. Now the battle is moving to the Delaware River, as boats from SHowing Animals Respect and Kindness (SHARK) occupies the Delaware River at the gun club’s shoreline. Officials of Bensalem Township, Bucks County and Pennsylvania all continue to ignore the club shooting over water, dumping shot and birds in the river, hitting boat occupants with shot, and other violations.

Incredible and Epic catches in Lower Bucks County, PA: 11/22, 11/23, and 11/26/2011

On November 22nd, two days before Thanksgiving, I received a heads up on Q439-22 coming down the CSAO Lehigh Line with a brand new ES44AH with the new How Tomorrow Moves logo on it, and a BNSF H1 painted HLCX SD40-2. I decided to pack everything I needed, and headed off to Neshaminy Falls Station for a bit. Well, as it became darker out, the freezing cold Rain became heavier, as Q439-22 came closer and closer… 4:25 PM — As Q439-22 rounds the bend, SEPTA 5368 heads east after letting passengers off, with a Silverliner sampler pack of Silverliner IV 287, Silverliner III 231, and Silverliner IIs 267, 257, and 254. 5368 — Philadelphia, PA — West Trenton, NJ 4:28 PM — Now for a good/bad kind of moment. Q439-22 slowly works west through Nesh with CSX ES44AH 953 with the HTM on the side, and HLCX SD40-2 7861 in BNSF H1 for power. The bad news is, the rain got heavier, and set up shot right on my lens as the power approached…. Q439 — Selkirk, NJ — Hamlet, NC Manifest 4:35 PM — After running through the siding around Q439-22, C770-22 throttles up eastbound with CSX GP38-2 2566 and CSX GP40-2 6240 pulling three cars from Nabisco. C770 — Woodbourne, PA — Nabisco and return The next day on the 23rd, I did some pre-Thanksgiving fanning at CP Woodbourne… 3:15 PM — Q439-23 moves west through the rain with CSX ES40DC 5269 and CSX CW40-8 7746 for power. 3:43 PM — K533-23 barrels east around the curve with a bangin’ leader in the form of CSX C40-8 7492, with CSX AC44CW 305 …

From the uniforms to the cannons, everything seemed like it was right out of the time period.
