Am I "emo"???????????????
June 30, 2011 by admin

Yeah, I know. I don’t believe in stereotypes either, I think they’re dumb. And I really don’t give a darn about what other people think about me or label me as. But this has been getting to me lately.
All my friends and my brothers are always telling me I’m emo, and I always reject it.
So I’m coming to you guys to judge.
(and, for the record, I’m not one of those @#$% fake #@$%s that TRY to look "emo" cause they think it’s cool)
Please tell me whether you think this qualifies as "emo"..
(btw I’m a freshman, 15 year old girl)
These are the things they say make me "emo" or things I say make me "not emo":
I like black. Some of my favorite shirts are black t shirts. But it’s not the absolute ONLY thing that I wear.
I don’t cut myself or hurt myself. Pain=bad (common sense)
I don’t listen to screamo, but I do like rock, pretty much anything between The Beatles to Billy Joel to FM Static to The Verve to to Paramour. But I like a lot of smaller rock bands, too.
I love art and draw all of the time.
I love music.
I’m shy and don’t really like being social sometimes.
I like to wear striped arm socks OCCASIONALLY in the winter, not every day.
Yeah, I have long hair with bangs parted sideways and it’s in my face a lot. But it’s it’s natural sandy blonde-brown color, not fake black.
I don’t wear makeup and have no piercings.
I occasionally wear shirts with rock bands on them, all of them gray or black.
I wear (very) ripped up black converse one-stars. The reason they’re ripped up is only because I’m too poor to buy another pair. And I haven’t destroyed them with sharpies.
I like wearing plaid.
I don’t have glasses.
I’m STRAIGHT.
My hair isn’t in any weird style. It’s just natural and stuff.
Yeah. I like the thrift store.
I like writing poetry, and -wait for the cliche- stupid songs and crap. But I’ don’t share them with anyone or every actually sing them, even though I can sing and play multiple instruments. But I never do. That’s my personal stuff, and I don’t like attention and pity.
I like Edgar Allen Poe, some other "weird" things like that interest me.
I never cry. I’m not one of those wussies that goes around /ohwoeismesobsobsob. I try not to show my emotions. If I’m not with friends, I’m stone faced.
I wear skinny jeans, not circulation-stopping ones, but still skinny jeans. Dark blue or black. Never buy them "ripped" from the store or intentionally rip them, that’s retarded. Eventually the knees will rip on their own, already ripping them in stupid places is just DUMB.
I like knee-high crazy patterned, crazy colored socks, usually not matching because I can never find the matches XD
I wear a necklace with a black bat on it everyday (I love bats).
Vampires suck. Screw Twilight.
I don’t fear death but I don’t want to die so young. But I’m not a creep that "likes death" or anything weird like that.
Unlike most fake emo $%#@s, I have had a rough life. And I’m not complaining here, people… I hate being pitied or drawing attention to myself. I keep things a secret almost obsessively. I hate being pitied when I am perfectly independent. And I don’t need to hurt myself either, that’s why I have art.
In the 7th grade I had depression and PTSD, but I am over almost entirely.
Yeah, I hate myself.
I’m not extremely popular. Since most kids judge me by how I look, they hate me without reason. I’m pretty nice to anyone who isn’t a ***** to me or my friends.
I have an ancient phone, one of the very first blackberries, that’s so ugly that I decorated it in rainbow kitten stickers and sesame street stickers. Oh yeah.
I love the night. Not because I’m trying to be emo, but because I think it’s beautiful.
I wear a lot of bracelets.
I always have a pocket knife on me, wherever I go. It’s not to I can cut myself or kills somebody, it’s because I’m overly paranoid and I don’t want to get like raped or something.
I like to scare and pull pranks on people.
I love wolves and other canines.
I occasionally like to draw creepy things. Canine skulls. Ghosts. But rarely, only for vent art. And I don’t show anyone.
I hate parties that aren’t just my friends. I usually sulk. Same thing goes for classes without any of my friends in them.
I’ve got a rebellious streak in me. I hate everything mainstream and enjoy being unique.
I’m not pale, I’m naturally a little tan and have freckles.
I’m really interested in military history, especially WW1.
I play some sports.
I hate school.
Thanks for your opinion!
